Word to the Wise

[Gal 3:7-14 and Luke 11:15-26]Realize that is those who have faith who are children of Abraham. [Gal.]
In his impassioned plea to the Galatians, Paul develops an interesting argument. Instead of appealing to Moses as a model, he appeals to Abraham. Moses was the law-giver. Abraham is offered as the model of faith because Paul wants to emphasize that it is through faith in Christ that salvation is offered, and not through observance of the Mosaic Law. "Christ ransomed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written "Cursed be everyone who hangs on a tree...." It is through Christ that the blessing of faith was offered to the Gentiles. The Galatians were Gentiles.
Since we are dealing with more than 2,000 years of faith, it seems to be a distant argument for us. Yet Abraham stands at the head of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. He is the primordial "ancestor in faith" because he put his faith in God and went where God told him to go. [Genesis 12]. It is this fundamental faith that Paul is pointing to as the crucial factor in our relationship with God. Do we ever think about this? AMEN
