Word to the Wise

[1 John 5:14-21 and John 2:1-11,287]SATURDAY, JANUARY 7, 2023 WEEKDAY IN CHRISTMAS SEAS0N [1 John 4:14-21 and John 2:1-11] “Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come?……Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs at Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him. [John] The first part of the Gospel According to John {1-12] is known traditionally as the Book of Signs. The word “sign” is used in this gospel instead of the words in the other three gospels. Each “sign” has the purpose of revealing Jesus as the one sent by God and reveals his “glory.” At Cana, Jesus points to a future “sign” when he will be glorified in his death and resurrection. This is why he says to his mother, “My hour has not yet come. I have mentioned recently the study of encounters with Jesus in the Gospel According to John as a way of looking at our own encounters with him. I also suggest reading the “signs” and how they can affect our understanding of Jesus as the one whom God has sent. These begin in Galilee and end in Jerusalem! What “glory” do we see, and how does it affect our belief? AMEN
