Something to Think About
The Nativity by Fra Diamante
RBWORDS – Volume 23 – Number 12 – Christmas 2010
This is no time for a child to be born,
With the earth betrayed by war and hate
And a comet slashing the sky to warn
That time runs out & the sun burns late
That was no time for a child to be born,
In a land in the crushing grip of Rome;
Honor & truth were trampled by scorn-
Yet here did the Savior make his home.
When is the time for love to be born?
The inn is full on the planet earth,
And by a comet the sky is torn—
Yet love takes the risk of birth
From “The Risk of Birth, Christmas 1973” by M. L’Engle
To each and every one of my beloved readers, I wish a blessed and holy Christmas season. Know that you will be in my heart and thoughts at the celebration of Eucharist on Christmas Day! I will be home with family in Natchitoches, LA, and return to Austin on January 3rd. With love and blessings!
